Nettlefold Hall Closed due to flooding - from Tuesday 7th June 2011.
Update 20/09/12 - Latest news regarding the Nettlefold Hall from one of the hall managers "This is to update you as to the future of the Nettlefold. We have now been told that the Nettlefold will NOT be reopening as we knew it. There are other plans for the building that have yet to be confirmed that are working toward Lambeth becoming a Co-operative Council. Discussions are still taking place with the local community and the Council will be meeting in October to make its’ final decision. We are very sorry about the time taken to update you but we have only just had this information confirmed.". Therefore, unfortunately, Knights Karate will not be reopening in West Norwood (for the foreseeable future). We ran a club there for 16 years (since 1995) and the club takes it's name from the area (Knights Hill etc.). Members are most welcome to continue, or restart, their training at any of our Bromley venues.
Update 22/12/11 - Latest news regarding the Nettlefold Hall from one of the hall managers “quick update on the status of the West Norwood Library Centre, and of course this includes the Nettlefold. The works to the roof are now complete and the scaffolding as some of you may be aware, has been removed. However, during the renovations work asbestos was discovered throughout the premises. A specialist team has since come and safely removed the asbestos, but the removal of the asbestos together with the other repairs, has left parts of the building without ceilings and electrical power. The Council has now commissioned a survey of the building to ascertain what work and at what cost, is required to make the building habitable. Until this information is available we are unable to give any indication as to when the building will reopen. I understand that this response probably isn’t the best news as this has been a very frustrating time for all.” Update 30/09/11 - Here is the latest news from the Nettlefold Hall, see below. We do hope to run the karate club back at West Norwood once the building opens and hope you will join us again on Tuesdays. "We have been told that the Nettlefold will be reopening, but we still do not know when. There are delays due to the following… Whilst the works were underway inside the building asbestos has been found. This information is now in the public domain. We do not know where exactly this is but we have all been called to a meeting next wk for all staff to attend. We cannot now return as quickly as expected unfortunately as this now has to be safely removed throughout the building for the repair works to continue. " - From a Nettlefold Hall Manager.Brown & Black Belt Association training and Grading - Saturday 30th April 2011, 11:00-13:00 - See Gradings page for more information. 4 students attended, 1 from KKC - See Results & Awards page for details.
